Diamond Aircraft DA 42 NG history and development

EASA records a certification application date of January 17, 2008 for the DA 42 NG. Diamond later introduced the commercial designation DA42-VI for DA 42 NG aircraft equipped with MÄM 42-600.

Diamond Aircraft DA 42 NG fuel capacity

Current Diamond DA42-VI specifications list 50.0 U.S. gallons in the main tanks and an optional 26.4 U.S. gallon auxiliary-tank capacity.

These are current-production DA42-VI figures and should not automatically be substituted for earlier DA 42 NG configurations.

Current factory figures are not a substitute for the approved AFM applicable to an earlier DA 42 NG.

Diamond Aircraft DA 42 NG model applicability and configuration

Certified mass limits vary by installed design changes. EASA lists multiple approved DA 42 NG mass configurations, so one set of limits must not be assumed to cover every airplane.

Diamond Aircraft DA 42 NG weight and balance

The base DA 42 NG configuration is listed at 4,189 lb maximum takeoff mass, 3,891 lb maximum zero fuel mass and 3,979 lb maximum landing mass.

With the relevant approved design changes, the DA42-VI configuration can use a 4,407 lb maximum takeoff mass, 4,045 lb maximum zero fuel mass and 4,407 lb maximum landing mass.

WBcalc's existing DA42-VI calculator represents one specific 4,407 lb configuration only and should not be treated as a universal calculator for all DA 42 NG aircraft.

Always verify aircraft applicability. Check the current POH or AFM, equipment list and weight and balance records for the individual aircraft.

Diamond Aircraft DA 42 NG frequently asked questions

What engines does the Diamond DA42 NG use?

The DA 42 NG uses two Austro Engine E4 / AE300-family turbo-diesel engines. Current DA42-VI specifications list 168 hp per engine.

What is the DA42-VI?

EASA identifies DA42-VI as the commercial designation of the DA 42 NG with MÄM 42-600 installed.

What is the maximum takeoff mass of the DA42 NG?

It depends on configuration. EASA lists a base 4,189 lb configuration and approved higher-mass configurations up to 4,407 lb for the DA42-VI configuration represented here.
