Cessna 170A is part of the Cessna 170 family under FAA A-799. The 170A introduced the all-metal single-strut wing and a 42-gallon fuel system. The standard Continental C145 installation is rated at 145 hp at 2,700 rpm. For the landplane, the TCDS establishes a 2,200 lb Normal-category maximum weight and a 1,900 lb Utility-category limit, with four seats and a 120 lb baggage limit. Approved seaplane, skiplane, auxiliary-fuel and engine modifications are separate configurations.
